Invitation
to the 16th Inverclyde Masters
Open Swimming Meet
10th & 11th September 2010
Following
the formation of the club in 1995 it was decided that as well as providing for
recreation / fitness swimmers there was a need to provide for those members who
wished to compete in organised Masters competitions.
The event over the past 15 years has continued to evolve and is now recognised as a premier event within the Scottish Masters Calendar, providing a Meet of high quality, well organised and attracting a high calibre of Masters swimmers.
In the 800m Freestyle the Club have introduced a detailed statistical analysis for each individual who competes. From the comments received this innovative service is very much appreciated. (Access to this information can be obtained by clicking on the 800m Statistical Analysis button at the following address: swiminverclyde.com/masters) or directly from Alistair Black: aliblack@btinternet.com
In continuing this innovative approach to the promotion of Masters swimming, in 2006 the Inverclyde club, in response to a number of requests, restructured the entry criteria and for the first time introduced a section for 16 years to 18 years which we designated “Y” category ie “Trainee Masters”
This was in order to provide an opportunity and encouragement to swimmers in that age group, who were considering retirement, to continue their involvement in the sport and at the same time provide an introduction to the benefits of Masters swimming. To date this would appear to be achieving its objective.
Over
the years the Club have been absolutely delighted to welcome Master swimmers not
only from all regions of the British Isles but also swimmers from Germany,
Belgium and Spain. This input from
overseas has given the event an international flavour and their commitment to
attend our Meet is very much appreciated and in itself has given a very welcome
extra dimension to the Meet.
At the same time the Club are also very appreciative of the support given by not only the local Council but also the Inverclyde Leisure Trust who are responsible for the management of the Complex where the competition takes place.
This support not only provides the base on which the Club has built a quality event but also makes a very positive contribution to meeting the ideals of the Masters motto of:
Fitness, Fun and Friendship
With regard to the 2010 Meet the Inverclyde Masters Swim Club extends a very warm welcome to all Masters Swimmers to participate and though we cannot guarantee you a PB in any of the events we can assure you of a first class weekend full of friendship and hospitality.
